We save only a small thumbnail visible to signed-in users.

Changing your name keeps your email address and conversations.

When hidden, friends can find you only by your exact email address. Conversations stay available, but presence and typing are hidden from your contacts too.

View a profile and request a conversation. Email addresses are not published.

Chat requests

Check the sender’s profile. The conversation starts only after you accept.

Remove conversation for me

The conversation will disappear from your list and its previous content will no longer be available to you. The other person keeps their copy. Previously downloaded files stay on your disk.

Muted conversations play no sounds and show no system notifications.

Mute conversation

Messages still arrive. Muting applies only to your account in the web version.
